The Ghana Culture week, previously the Ghana Culture Day is a flagship event of the Ghana Culture Forum. It is a day set aside to commemorate Ghanaian Culture and its place in national development. it was launched in 2012 on March 14. It is observed every year by activities such as a symposium on a relevant theme and an artistic emporium to showcase works of Ghana's cultural expressions.
Prior to 2022, activities making the Ghana Culture Day, were observed in one day: March 14. The quest to evolve the celebrations and expand the scope of activities birthed the inter-school debate. The first very entertaining and educative debate was held during the 2022 edition of the Ghana Culture Day celebrations. Today the celebration is being expanded to consist of activities spanning over a week; and thus, rebranding of the festival to reflect the scope. The first edition of Ghana Culture Week will be marked from 11-17 March, 2024.
The Objectives are to:
- Highlight Ghana’s cultural heritage through showcasing of the diversity of cultural expressions.
- Highlight pertinent issues related to culture and heritage.
- Provide platform for stakeholder engagement on cultural issues.
- Provide marketing opportunities for cultural enterprises.
- Provide platform for networking between cultural practitioners and consumers of cultural goods and services.
