For over a decade, we have operated as the critical intersection between grassroots creative practitioners and state legislative bodies – ensuring that Ghanaian identity is protected, celebrated, and economically viable.
Global Alliances & UNESCO Conventions
We played an instrumental role in advising and facilitating the processes that led to Ghana’s ratification of core UNESCO Conventions. This includes protecting the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) and the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.
The Film Act (Act 935)
GCF built the fundamental framework that enabled film and creative practitioners to participate directly in national legislative work. This advocacy culminated in the landmark passing of the Film Act (Act 935) and the creation of the National Film Authority.
Creative Arts Industry Act (Act 1048)
We continue to represent the interests of our 10 Creative Domains by actively contributing to the drafting committees and pushing for the vital realisation of the Legislative Instruments (LIs) under Act 1048.

Times change, and culture evolves. GCF is at the forefront of reviewing, critiquing, and modernizing Ghana’s overarching National Cultural Policy to align it with modern intellectual property demands, technology advancements, and economic realities.
