The Ghana Culture Forum (GCF) proudly celebrates its member, Ms. Sherrie Thompson, on receiving the AFRICA’S BRAIN BANK® Award for Community Empowerment.
Ms. Thompson received the award during the 7th Annual AFRICA’S BRAIN BANK® Summit & Charity Ball, which was held in Accra from 3rd to 8th September 2026.
The summit brought together stakeholders from across Africa and the Diaspora, including professionals, investors, healthcare experts, entrepreneurs, development partners and other leaders committed to advancing Africa’s development.
AFRICA’S BRAIN BANK® focuses on mobilising Africa’s intellectual and human capital by connecting expertise, knowledge and resources across the continent and the Diaspora.
The Ghana edition of the programme was held under the theme “Africa’s Greatest Wealth, Its People; Restoring Africa’s Health Capital.”
A major highlight was the groundbreaking of the proposed Historic Medical City in Ada, which is being developed as a vision for an integrated healthcare, education, research, innovation and economic-development ecosystem. The initiative also has potential implications for investment, job creation, Diaspora engagement and medical tourism in Ghana.
The programme therefore provided an important platform for conversations around how African expertise, investment and partnerships can contribute to sustainable development.
