Veteran fashion designer, contemporary artist and environmental activist Beatrice “Bee” Arthur, Head of the Fashion Domain of the Ghana Culture Forum and founder of the Waste Afterlife Art Movement (WAAM), will participate in the international group exhibition BEYOND CREATION: Humanity, Nature and Spirituality — A Universal Message, opening at the Accra Art Centre on 5 October 2026.
Bringing together 40 international artists from diverse cultural backgrounds, the exhibition creates a shared space for reflection on humanity’s relationship with nature, spirituality and the environment.
Arthur will present JEAN-ESIS: Chapter One, a large-scale installation occupying approximately 3 × 3 metres and exploring textile waste, discarded denim, environmental responsibility and the afterlife of clothing. The work continues her growing engagement with waste as both artistic material and evidence of the environmental consequences of contemporary consumption.
In 2025, Arthur curated Echoes of the Landfill at the Museum of Science and Technology, Accra. In June 2026, in collaboration with the Waste Afterlife Art Movement (WAAM), she returned to the museum with Museum Madonna Macramé, a major intervention presented for World Environment Day. The work further developed her artistic practice around waste, sustainability and environmental justice.
